Learn more about your local White Cross Vets...

White Cross Vets has been providing care for pets for more than 80 years, combining a heritage of top quality pet care with the latest industry techniques and technology.

Our High Street vet practice in Wolstanton is open six days a week – on Monday to Friday we’re open from 8.30am to 7pm, and on a Saturday we’re here from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

We’re proud of our Wolstanton practice, particularly the relationships our team have with our clients and the friendship and teamwork that has developed among our team since we opened our doors for the first time in 2012. Our close-knit team shares loads of interests including taking our dogs mountaineering (we’ve been to the top of Ben Nevis), dressing our pets up, playing bingo and eating pizza and cake!

We understand what pets mean to our clients, because each member of our team is a pet owner themselves. In fact, we have 49 pets between us – including sheep, ponies, dogs, cats, tortoises, rats and goldfish!

To check out who’s been visiting us this week and for the latest advice and information, take a look at our practice’s Facebook page.

Services

At our Wolstanton practice, we have state-of-the-art equipment to provide your pet with the highest quality of care. We have facilities including dentistry equipment, an operating theatre, 2-D x-ray, in-house laboratory for rapid diagnosis, blood pressure monitor and an ultrasound machine.

Our surgery has been designed to make your pet’s visit as comfortable and stress free as possible. We use a combination of pheromones, special lighting and music designed to keep your pet feeling calm.

Among our team you’ll find a wide range of specialisms and interests, including clinic director and vet Laura who has a specialist interest in acupuncture to treat a range of painful and inflammatory conditions and vet Maddie who has a keen interest in cats.

As a team we specialise in treating bunnies and offer senior pet clinics. We can also offer orthopaedic services through a visiting surgeon – just get in touch with the practice on 01782 898 030 for more details or if you have any concerns about your pet.

Community work

We do everything we can to give something back to the communities we serve and encourage our team to make a difference by giving them five ‘donation days’ each year for them to spend time volunteering.

It’s our mission to reduce dog fouling in our area and, in association with Newcastle in Bloom, we sponsor local dog waste bins. To support this, we hand out free dog waste bags at reception and regularly visit local primary schools to educate children about responsible pet ownership.

We’re proud to be able to say that we treat all school pets and wildlife for free and vet Gilly visits Huggies Day Nursery in Stoke-on-Trent, Wolstanton Kindergarten, Ellison Primary in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Newcastle-Under-Lyme Junior School, The Old Rectory Kindergarten and St Wulstan’s Catholic Primary School in Wolstanton to look after their pets.

At Christmas we hold collections for Iris’s Cats in Need and the City Dogs Home in Stoke-on-Trent.

And, because we care for those who care, we offer a 10% discount to all employees of the NHS, emergency services and armed forces to say thank you for all that they do.

Local area

Our Wolstanton vets practice is located on Wolstanton High Street next to Wright’s Pies. We look after the pets of Wolstanton, May Bank, Dimsdale and Porthill right out to Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

It’s really easy to find us and we have plenty of free parking right behind the practice. Our convenient location means you can combine visiting us with a visit to other local facilities including Asda supermarket, Wolstanton Post Office and wide range of shops from pharmacies to travel agents.

There are plenty of lovely places to walk your dogs while you’re in the area, including the National Trust’s Downs Banks dog walking trail by a stream, Trentham Gardens with a lake and adventure playground, plus a cafe and tearoom which both provide water outside for dogs, Westport Lake with a play area and cafe and, a bit further afield, Brereton Park nature reserve in Cheshire with a lake and wildflower meadow.

Out of hours service

As a pet owner, you’re never off duty. That’s why we provide care 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year through our trusted out-of-hours service partner.

Pet dental services: dental care for dogs, cats and rabbits

We recommend you should have your pet’s teeth examined by one of our team on a regular basis. As many conditions are progressive, early identification is important.

A full dental check is included free with our Complete Wellness Plan.

If necessary, this should be followed up with a professional dental clean. Our team will then remove the tartar above and below the gumline and polish them, just like a dentist does for our teeth.

If certain teeth are so severely affected they cannot be saved, extractions will be necessary. Pets are usually able to go home on the same day.

– Dental health checks £FREE

– Dental ultrasonic cleaning and polishing £99
This price includes: general anaesthetic, fluids and medication

– Dental with extractions (all-inclusive) £299
This price includes: blood tests, general anaesthetic, fluids, medication and unlimited digital dental X-rays

– Rabbit dental package (all-inclusive) £120
This price includes: general anaesthetic, fluids, medication, dental X-rays and post op feeding

Our all-inclusive dental packages give you peace of mind that you can provide your pet with the best dental care without being surprised by any hidden costs. Please note that all pets on the Complete Wellness Plan will receive 20% off all dental procedures.
