Manchester - Walkden
Welcome to our White Cross Vets Manchester Walkden practice where our team of caring pet experts are waiting to help take care of your dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets.
The facilities at our Manchester Walkden vet practice include an operating theatre equipped for anaesthetics, digital x-ray, in-house laboratory (we get results in minutes rather than days to help with a speedy diagnosis), dentistry equipment, an ultrasound and a blood pressure monitor. This means the team can carry out a full range of treatments on-site.
Our surgery has been designed to make your pet comfortable. We use a combination of pheromones, special lighting and music to make your pet’s visit as calm as possible.
Our highly-trained team has a wide range of skills and interests – please ask for more details.
If you have any concerns about your pet, please call 0161 799 5557 to chat with one of our team or book a free health check.
We’re proud to take our place in the Manchester and Walkden communities and we try to give something back whenever we can.
We always treat all school pets for free and the team visits local schools to inspire the pupils to become the vets of the future and teach them how to look after their pets. Head nurse Danielle visits local schools to teach responsible pet care including Mesne Lea Primary School in Walkden (where we treat their school guinea pigs for free) and St Paul’s Heathside Grove Primary School in Walkden where we check up on our patients Bubble and Squeak the guinea pigs.
We also treat any wildlife that is brought into our practice for free, and we support our local client Sue who rescues hedgehogs and brings them to us for treatment and TLC before releasing them back into the wild.
We give every team member five ‘donation days’ each year so that they can spend time volunteering for a charitable cause of their choice and, because we care for those who care, we offer a 10% discount to all employees of the NHS, emergency services and armed forces to say thank you for all that they do.
Our vet practice in Manchester, Walkden cares for the pets and their owners from the nearby communities of Walkden, plus Worsley, Little Hulton, Swinton, Farnworth, Radcliffe, Bolton, Boothstown, Eccles, Irlam, Ellenbrook, Clifton, Pendlebury, Leigh, Atherton, Ashton Under Lyne, Blackrod, Horwich, Westhoughton and Monton.
You’ll find our smart and modern practice conveniently located on Bridgewater Road. Once you’ve turned off the A6 Manchester Road/High Street into Bridgewater Road, you’ll need to take the first turning on the right after Due Amici restaurant, which is just before Worsley Leisure Centre. There’s plenty of free parking for clients. Also in the area you’ll find a McDonalds and a KFC if you’re feeling peckish, the Guild Hall Community Centre and a good range of shops in nearby Walkden town centre.
If you’re looking for somewhere to walk your dog, our team of dog lovers recommend Parr Fold Park in Salford which has a children’s play area, the linear walk on an old railway line in Worsley and Blackleach Country Park just half a mile north of Walkden town centre where you can go fishing, feed the ducks or play in a children’s play area.
As a pet owner, you’re never off duty. That’s why we provide care 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year through our trusted out-of-hours service partner.

We highly recommend that a blood test is performed on the day of the anaesthetic, as a person would have before a similar surgery, to look for any underlying problems. We would also advise that your pet is kept on intravenous fluids, which not only makes the anaesthetic safer but allows for a more rapid and smoother recovery. These services are available for a combined discounted price of £40 (only in association with neutering) – please request them when you drop your pet off with us in the morning.

We recommend you should have your pet’s teeth examined by one of our team on a regular basis. As many conditions are progressive, early identification is important.
A full dental check is included free with our Complete Wellness Plan.
If necessary, this should be followed up with a professional dental clean. Our team will then remove the tartar above and below the gumline and polish them, just like a dentist does for our teeth.
If certain teeth are so severely affected they cannot be saved, extractions will be necessary. Pets are usually able to go home on the same day.
– Dental health checks £FREE
– Dental with extractions £299
This price includes: blood tests, general anaesthetic, fluids, medication and unlimited digital dental X-rays
– Rabbit dental package £125
Please note that all pets on the Complete Wellness Plan will receive 20% off all dental procedures.

"Took our kitten ‘Bruce’ to the Walkden branch, what a total brilliant experience, the vet ‘Evan’ was amazing, treated Bruce for an ear problem with amazing care and attention, he listened to what we had to say and was incredible with Bruce. An absolute brilliant vet and I would recommend very highly that anyone with a pet should go there!!

"I have visited many vets over the years but non have taken the time to explain in detail the results of the procedures they have carried out, except for Evan.
He took the time and effort to explain what was going on even phoning me in the evening to give me some more advice.brilliant service Evan many thanks for treating Bella."
"Staff are all very friendly and polite. You get the impression the vets genuinely care about your pets.
Place is clean. My last vet had a rather grubby looking building. I know that has no bearing and whether they are a good vet but appearances do matter."
"Great team. Always makes time for my labradors. Would not go anywhere else. Evan is our hero."
"All the staff are fantastic and very very helpful....I travel quite away but worth the distance to have a vets I can trust and feel comfortable with ?"

"Although I use White Cross for my own cat - tonight I was there with my friend and her cat. All I can say is Evan is an exceptional vet and person who has gone above and betond the call of duty. You are amazing - and thank you doesn't even cover it."
"All the staff care and love every pet that go in for there operations they are well looked after that's why I always go."
"Outstanding service from Evan, Clinical Director and his team who gave exceptional care to our dog Buster who was poorly recently. Would highly recommend the practice and the very friendly professionalism and personal care for pets."
"Jess is almost 15 now, she's a greatly cherished colly cross, she's had a few problems in the past and two weeks ago she became quite poorly, Evan had a look at Jess and took a blood sample there and then. Within half an hour he had the test results. He prescribed treatment to be taken over the next week. She responded almost immediately and picked up quickly. At this point I have to add that Jess has Cushings and thyroid trouble so we were pretty worried. She's back to her old self now, walking at least two miles most days, she's a marvel and we'd like to thank Evan and all the staff at White Cross for their patience and dedication. Thanks you lot! Pip N Jean n Jess."
"Really helpful advice! Great service and a great pet plan. Definitely would recommend for any new pet owners."
"Absolutely lovely lovely staff here! Thanks for looking after Betty xx"

"This is the best team of people I have ever met in a vets. Even though we only had a short time using you the care and support was fantastic from start to finish. Your practice was and is very proffesional and understanding and in helping our staffie Blade with his L2HGA and the problems that came with this condition showed us we had made the right choice for him even down to you arranging his cremation after he had to be put to sleep. If you are looking for a proffesional caring team then you will have to look no further."

"Excellent veterinary practice, all the staff are helpful, the vets are knowledgeable and caring. Have used this practice for years and will continue to do so. From the cradle to the grave you know your pet is in safe hands."
"When we first came to Whitecross Vets at Walkden we were new parents!! New parents to our beautiful Chihuahua Poppy. Going to the vets was a brand new experience but one we will always remember. Not only did the vets and nurses look after Poppy but also educated us on everything. After a year we felt so confident that we got our new baby Chihuahua Pickle and again she has also become part of the Whitecross family.
The vets, nurses and the administration staff are all amazing and go out of there way to make you feel happy and content with everything that is happening with our pet. Now trips to the vets is a family occasion as we all love going. We relax and have some fun with all the staff in a brilliant family friendly environment. I know that the times we go won’t always be happy times if our babies are poorly however I do know that they will always be in the very best hands. Thanks for everything guys.. Love from Jackie, Poppy & Pickle and Family xxx”"
