About Us

Introducing one of our newest practices, White Cross Vets Hyde, where you’ll find a team of pet-loving experts waiting to help take care of your dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets.

Learn more about your local White Cross Vets...

We’re White Cross Vets – a friendly practice that has been providing care for pets for more than 80 years.

Our purpose-built Talbot Road practice in Newton, which first opened its doors in 2018, is open six days a week – Monday to Friday 8.30am to 7pm and on a Saturday from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Our friendly team includes vets Mike and Andrea and nurses Aimee and Anneliese who have all been caring for the pets of Manchester for many years and were delighted to come together and set up the White Cross Vets Hyde team to deliver the standard of care they believe all pets deserve.

Every member of the team understands what pets mean to their owners – because they are pet owners themselves. Aimee is the proud owner of Joey, a staffy cross that she rescued, and she and Anneliese own lots of rescue rabbits between them. The team loves walking their dogs and are often found out and about in the Peak District.

See who’s been visiting us and what the team has been up to this week on our Facebook page.

Services

Our White Cross Vets Hyde practice is fully equipped with all the latest technology including an operating theatre, x-ray, in-house laboratory (meaning results will be turned around in minutes rather than days), blood pressure monitor and seperate cat and dog wards where we can monitor in patients. All this equipment means we can offer a wide range of operations in the practice so there’s no need to put your pet through the stress of being transported anywhere else for the procedure.

Our surgery has been designed to make your pet’s visit as comfortable and stress free as possible. We understand that cats aren’t just small dogs which is why we have created a cat friendly clinic designed around our feline friends. To minimise stress we use pheromone diffusers, treats and separate, spacious cat wards with ultra soft bedding.

Our team has a wide range of specialisms and interests including vet Mike who is interested in orthopaedic and reconstructive surgery and nurse Anneliese who runs a popular free weight clinic which has had proven results for her patients.

If you would like to talk to someone about your pet, please give our team a call on 0161 667 0333.

Community work

Our team is dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve – and in fact to the animal community around the world. Nurse Anneliese volunteered for a Marine and Wildlife programme in Sri Lanka, helping with turtle rescue and rehabilitation.

We’re proud to be able to say that we treat all school pets and wildlife for free and we help to educate the pet owners and vets of the future whenever we can. Yew Tree Primary School in nearby Newton, for example, regularly brings children to our practice so they can learn about what happens inside a veterinary practice and animal welfare.

We support local pet charities including Tameside Animal Shelter with vaccinations, health checks and neutering.

We give every team member five ‘donation days’ each year so that they can spend time volunteering for a charitable cause of their choice and, because we care for those who care, we offer a 10% discount to all employees of the NHS, emergency services and armed forces to say thank you for all that they do.

Local Area

Our Hyde practice is part of the £1.2million development at the junction of Talbot Road, Matley Lane and Victoria Street on the site of the old Bay Horse Hotel with plenty of onsite parking. Also nearby is Dukinfield Golf Club and Hyde School of Dance. We’re only five minutes from the centre of Hyde where you’ll find several train stations and a great selection of shops, restaurants and cafes.

We are located to the east of Manchester and look after the pets from the communities of Newton, Hyde, Godley, Kingston and Hattersley.

Our clients’ most popular local dog walking spot is Hyde Park which is very handy for our practice. Other nice dog walks in the area include Werneth Country Park which has stunning views over Manchester or Clayton Vale nature reserve where you’ll find some wonderful wildlife to spot.

Out of hours service

As a pet owner, you’re never off duty. That’s why we provide care 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year through our trusted out-of-hours service partner.

Pet dental services: dental care for dogs, cats and rabbits

We recommend you should have your pet’s teeth examined by one of our team on a regular basis. As many conditions are progressive, early identification is important.

A full dental check is included free with our Complete Wellness Plan.

If necessary, this should be followed up with a professional dental clean. Our team will then remove the tartar above and below the gumline and polish them, just like a dentist does for our teeth.

If certain teeth are so severely affected they cannot be saved, extractions will be necessary. Pets are usually able to go home on the same day.

– Dental health checks £FREE

– Dental ultrasonic cleaning and polishing £99

This price includes: general anaesthetic, fluids and medication
– Dental with extractions (all-inclusive) £299

This price includes: blood tests, general anaesthetic, fluids, medication and unlimited digital dental X-rays

– Rabbit dental package (all-inclusive) £120

This price includes: general anaesthetic, fluids, medication, dental X-rays and post op feeding

Our all-inclusive dental packages give you peace of mind that you can provide your pet with the best dental care without being surprised by any hidden costs. Please note that all pets on the Complete Wellness Plan will receive 20% off all dental procedures.

For more information on caring for your pets, including tips on good pet dental care and how to clean your pet’s teeth, read our advice pages.
